Chapter 2 - THE DIGITAL EXECUTIONERBradley’s fingers missed the paper by an inch as David sidestepped with the agility of a man half his age, his construction worker reflexes snapping back into alignment.

"You want it?" David growled, sliding the envelope behind his back. "You want to see what you missed, you arrogant little bastard?"
"Give it to me!" Bradley snarled, lunging again, his face contorting into a mask of pure panic. The mask of the calm, untouchable corporate heir was completely gone, replaced by the cornered, desperate animal underneath.
Before Bradley could grab him, Carol swung one of her crutches with lethal precision, catching the back of Bradley’s knee. With a sharp crack, Bradley’s leg buckled, and he crashed hard onto the weathered floorboards, barking his shin against the edge of an old wooden coffee table.
"Stay back, Bradley," Carol hissed, pointing the rubber tip of her crutch straight at his face. "You broke my life once. You won't break it again."
Bradley cursed, clutching his bruised knee as he glared up from the floor. "You bitch! You’re both going to prison! Do you hear me? I control the police chief in this county! I control the lawyers! The entire estate is mine!"
"Not quite, big brother," a cold, computerized voice echoed from the doorway.
Bradley froze. David and Carol whipped their heads around.
Standing on the threshold, leaning casually against the splintered doorframe, was a tall, sharp-featured man in a dark trench coat. He held a high-end tablet in one hand, the screen glowing with a live stream of data packets routing directly to federal servers. Behind him sat an unmarked black SUV with tinted windows, idling quietly against the roar of the ocean waves.
"Who the hell are you?" Bradley spat, struggling to push himself up from the floor. "Get off private property or I’ll—"
"You'll do nothing, Mr. Miller," the man interrupted, his voice smooth, devoid of any human warmth. "My name is Agent Vance, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Financial Crimes and Estate Fraud Division. And your father didn't just receive an envelope today. He received a direct-to-cloud backup file."
Agent Vance tapped the screen of his tablet. Instantly, the small portable Bluetooth speaker sitting on the kitchen counter chimed to life.
A crystal-clear audio recording began to play in the quiet room.
“Just sign the revised trust papers, Mom, or the life support gets unplugged five minutes early. Nobody will question it—your heart is already failing anyway.”
Bradley’s face turned the color of ash. He stared at the speaker as if it were a ghost speaking from the grave.
“You’re my son... how could you?” Helen’s frail, tearful voice answered on the recording.

“Mom, please. Seventeen acres of beachfront property plus the Italian villa? That’s worth thirty million dollars. I’m not letting some dead girl’s secret sister or a stubborn old man take a dime of it. Sign.”
The audio cut out with a sharp click.
