Chapter 10 - A NEW EMPIREThe glass double doors of the boardroom blew inward with a deafening crash.

Federal agents in full tactical gear, led by armed U.S. Marshals, flooded into the room, their weapons raised.
"Sarah Lin! Remain where you are! You are under federal arrest for corporate conspiracy, kidnapping, and illegal human experimentation!" the lead agent roared, slapping heavy steel handcuffs onto Sarah’s wrists as she screamed in blind fury.
The other board members slumped back in their chairs, paralyzed, as officers zip-tied their hands behind their backs and led them away in disgrace.
Down on the thirty-eighth subterranean floor, the tactical feed showed James Calder and his men dropping their weapons in surrender as federal strike teams breached the lab, safely securing Marcus Vance and the infant.
Within hours, Montgomery Tower was evacuated, sealed off by federal crime scene tape. The media circus outside was deafening, flashing cameras capturing the dramatic downfall of one of the most powerful corporate empires in the world.
Late that evening, far away from the flashing lights of Manhattan, the storm had finally cleared.
Inside a quiet, sunlit nursery overlooking a peaceful, rolling green meadow in upstate New York, the air smelled of lavender and fresh linen.
Eleanor Montgomery sat in a comfortable rocking chair, dressed in a soft, casual cotton sweater instead of her usual armor of charcoal Armani suits. Cradled safely in her arms, fast asleep with her tiny hand curled into a loose fist, was the baby.
No barcode. No tracking signal. Just a safe, warm, innocent life breathing softly against her chest.
The front door opened softly, and Marcus stepped into the room, holding a medical chart. "She’s completely healthy, Eleanor. Blood work is clean. She’s going to live a completely normal life."
Eleanor looked down at the infant, tracing the soft curve of the baby’s cheek with her thumb.
She had spent her entire life building an empire of glass and steel, trading her soul for power, stock prices, and corporate dominance. She had thought wealth was the ultimate currency.
As the baby stirred, opened a pair of wide, curious dark eyes, and let out a soft, contented sigh, Eleanor finally felt the heavy, suffocating weight lift from her shoulders.
She wasn't a corporate titan anymore.

She was a mother.
And for the first time in her life, her hands were holding something infinitely more valuable than all the money in the world.
