Chapter 4 - THE MIDNIGHT INTRUDERBefore Eleanor could pull the micro-SD card from the locket, the security monitor on the estate’s main console flashed violently red.

ALARM: PERIMETER BREACH - SECTOR 4 (NORTH GATE).
Marcus spun around. "An intruder? In the middle of the night? How did they bypass the biometric sensors?"
"They didn't bypass them," Eleanor said, her eyes narrowing as a terrifying realization gripped her. She looked at the tablet displaying the live security feed from the front gates.
A sleek, matte-black unmarked SUV had just rammed through the reinforced steel security gate as if it were made of cardboard. Four figures clad in tactical black gear, wearing full-face ballistic masks, spilled out of the vehicle. They weren't carrying standard police sidearms; they carried silenced submachine guns with military-grade infrared scopes.
"They're professionals," Eleanor whispered. "And they tracked us here."
"How could they track us?" Marcus panicked, his voice pitching high. "We came straight here in your private car!"
"Not us. The baby." Eleanor pointed frantically to the barcode tattoo behind the infant's ear. "It’s a GPS beacon. They didn't need to follow our car; they just followed the signal."
The estate’s emergency klaxons began to wail, vibrating through the thick concrete walls of the panic room suite.
“Securing all internal bulkheads,” the automated house computer announced in a calm, robotic voice. “Intruders have breached the ground floor.”
"Eleanor, we have to run!" Marcus grabbed the bassinet, lifting the baby into his arms. "There’s a panic tunnel leading to the boat house on the lake!"
"No," Eleanor said, her voice dropping into an icy, lethal calm that had intimidated boardrooms for a decade. She walked over to the reinforced oak cabinet in the corner of the study and punched a numeric code into the biometric keypad.
The panel slid open to reveal a hidden arsenal: a customized tactical shotgun, extra ammunition magazines, and a heavy tactical vest.
"Eleanor, you're a CEO, not a soldier!" Marcus cried out.
"My father built this house," Eleanor said coldly, sliding the heavy ballistic vest over her silk robe and racking a shell into the shotgun with a sharp, echoing clack. "And he taught me one rule very early in life: never let anyone take what is yours."
Heavy boots pounded on the hardwood stairs outside the secure office door.
