Chapter 5 - The Tables Turn

The parking plaza fell into a dead, absolute silence.

The ambient roar of downtown Miami traffic seemed to mute itself. The breeze rustled the palm trees overhead, but no one moved. No one spoke.

Bradley—the self-proclaimed 'Crypto-King', the invincible social media god who ruled millions of impressionable followers—slowly turned his head away from the federal agents and looked back at me. His mouth hung open, his jaw slack, trembling like a leaf in a hurricane.

"Vance..." he whispered, the name tasting like ash in his mouth. "You're... you're Julian Vance? The... the TechNova guy? The trillion-dollar guy?"

I didn't answer right away. I slowly reached up, adjusted the collar of my plain white department-store shirt, and smoothed down the fabric where his grubby finger had shoved me just five minutes ago.

"You were right about one thing," I said, my voice cutting through the heavy air like a scalpel.

"W-What... what was that?" Bradley stammered, his knees visibly shaking.

"My shirt didn't come from a luxury boutique," I replied softly, stepping closer until I towered over him. "It cost fourteen dollars at a department store down the street. Because unlike you, I don't need a neon-yellow polo or a Cuban link chain to prove my worth to the world. My bank account doesn't need a hashtag."

Bradley’s phone, still clutched in his sweaty palm, was still broadcasting live to over three million bewildered, screaming viewers. The live comments were moving so fast they were a solid block of white text: “HE IS LITERALLY THE FOUNDER OF TECHNOVA,” “BRO INSULTED A TRILLIONAIRE OVER A PARKING SPOT,” “FINANCIAL SUICIDE SPEEDRUN ANY%”.

"S-Sir... Mr. Vance... please," Bradley whimpered, his arrogant posture completely collapsing as he practically folded inward. "I... I didn't know! If I knew it was you, I would never—I swear to God, I was just joking, it was just content for the channel—"

"Content," I repeated the word slowly, letting it linger in the heavy Miami air. "You wanted viral content, Bradley. You wanted to make a hard-working civilian look like a fool for your followers' amusement."

I turned my gaze to the trembling woman in the pink sundress, who was already slowly backing away toward the street corner, desperately trying to hide her designer shopping bags behind her back.

"Commander Vance," I said without looking back.

"Sir?" the lead security agent responded instantly.

"Initiate Phase Two of the corporate asset audit on Mr. Bradley’s holding shell companies. Ensure every single digital token, every offshore account, and every over-leveraged luxury asset he owns is frozen under pending federal investigation for market manipulation and unauthorized corporate doxxing."

"Consider it done, sir," Commander Vance replied sharply into his wrist communicator.

Within seconds, Bradley’s phone buzzed violently once more. He looked down at the screen with wide, horror-struck eyes. A bank notification banner flashed across the display: ACCOUNT ALERT: ALL OUTGOING TRANSFERS FROZEN. BALANCE: $0.00.

"No... NO! MY MONEY! ALL MY CRYPTO!" Bradley shrieked, dropping to his knees on the hot asphalt, clutching his head in utter despair. "You can't do that! That's my life! That's my empire!"

"Empire built on smoke and mirrors," I said, turning my back on him and walking toward my silver Porsche Cayenne. "Mine was built on code and math. There is a distinct difference."
