Chapter 16 - The Digital Siege

The war room was set up in the basement of the Monterrey safehouse. Three massive monitors flickered with streams of green code as my fingers flew across the keyboard. Marco and Santiago stood behind me like silent statues, their eyes glued to the incoming data packets from the Calabrian servers.

“They’re routing through a secure satellite in Milan,” I muttered, my eyes burning from the screen glare. “If I break their firewall here, I can redirect their entire shipment manifest to the federal customs warehouse instead of our docks.”

“Do it,” Santiago commanded softly, his hand resting reassuringly on the back of my chair.

Enter.

A deafening alarm echoed through our server banks as countermeasures triggered automatically. A counter-hack tried to trace our IP address, flooding our systems with malware.

“They’re locking us out!” Marco warned, reaching for his weapon as if he could shoot the computer screen.

“Hold on!” I gritted my teeth, typing a master override sequence my mother had hidden inside the very first page of her financial ledger.

The screens flashed green. All international shipping manifests for the Calabrian Syndicate were instantly frozen and rerouted straight into federal custody. Across the Atlantic, their multi-million dollar operation crumbled in a single keystroke.
