Chapter 19 - The Legacy of the Park

One year later, the café in Condesa was completely renovated, now operating as a quiet, upscale literary lounge, but I still occasionally worked the espresso machine just for the sheer joy of it.
The front door chimed.
I looked up to see a little boy in a crisp navy-blue suit holding the hand of a tall, dark-suited man with unmistakable, piercing eyes.
Matteo ran straight toward the counter, vaulting onto the stool with a wide, bright grin.
“La signorina buona! Can I have my hot chocolate with extra foam today?” he asked eagerly.
I laughed, leaning over to boop his nose. “Coming right up, little man.”
Santiago walked up beside his son, sliding his hands into his pockets, his gaze locking onto mine with an intensity that still made my heart skip a beat.
“You know, you spoil him,” Santiago said, his voice rich with quiet amusement.
