CHAPTER 6 – “The Kidnapper Didn't Want the Money… He Wanted the Truth Buried Forever.”

The courthouse exploded into panic.

Armed officers stormed every hallway.

Doors slammed shut.

Security cameras were pulled onto every screen.

But Lily had vanished.

Only thirty-four seconds had passed.

It was impossible.

No one could disappear from a locked federal courthouse that quickly.

Evelyn collapsed to her knees, clutching Lily's tiny bracelet against her chest.

"Please... don't take my little girl."

Agent Cole barked orders into his radio.

"Lock every exit! Nobody leaves this building!"

Meanwhile, Richard Hawthorne remained strangely calm.

Too calm.

The prosecutor noticed it immediately.

"You knew this was going to happen."

Richard slowly smiled.

"You still think I'm the villain."

"What does that mean?"

Richard leaned forward, lowering his voice.

"I didn't take Lily."

Those five words sent chills through the courtroom.

"If you didn't..." the prosecutor whispered.

"...then who did?"

Richard looked toward the courtroom ceiling, where one of the security monitors suddenly flickered.

The image changed.

Instead of the courthouse hallway...

A masked figure appeared on the screen.

The entire nation watched live as the mysterious stranger spoke through a distorted voice.

"Richard Hawthorne is guilty."

Everyone held their breath.

"But he isn't the mastermind."

The masked figure held up a thick black folder.

"I have every name."

"Every murder."

"Every child."

"Every person who profited from the Blackwood inheritance."

The prosecutor's face turned white.

"Who are you?"

The stranger ignored the question.

Instead, he looked directly into the camera.

"If Lily stays alive..."

"The organization dies."

A wave of horror swept across the courtroom.

Organization?

There were more people involved.

Much more.

The stranger removed one glove.

On his wrist was a tattoo.

A black crown surrounded by thirteen stars.

Richard's eyes widened in terror.

"No..."

"It can't be."

For the first time since his arrest...

The billionaire looked genuinely afraid.

"You were supposed to be dead."

The masked figure laughed.

"You buried the wrong man twenty years ago."

The video feed suddenly cut to another camera.

Lily appeared on the screen.

She wasn't crying.

She wasn't tied up.

She was sitting quietly inside a beautifully furnished room.

An elderly gentleman placed a warm blanket over her shoulders.

"My name is Samuel Blackwood," he said softly.

"I'm your grandfather."

Evelyn gasped.

"That's impossible."

Samuel looked straight into the camera.

"No, Evelyn."

"The impossible part..."

"...is that I've been alive this entire time."

The screen went black.

The courtroom fell into stunned silence.

Then Agent Cole received an encrypted message on his phone.

It contained only one sentence:

"If you want Lily back alive... come to Blackwood Manor before sunrise. Come alone. Trust no one—not even the judge."

At that moment, everyone in the courtroom realized one terrifying truth.
