CHAPTER 1 – The Wedding That Should Never Have Happened

Everyone expected tears of joy.

Instead...

A single sentence from a little girl shattered an entire family.

Sophia stood in front of the mirror wearing the wedding dress she had dreamed about since childhood. In less than an hour, she would marry Ethan—the man everyone believed was perfect. Successful. Charming. Loving.

The guests filled the chapel. Cameras flashed. Flowers lined the aisle.

Everything looked like a fairy tale.

Until a little girl quietly appeared at the entrance.

She couldn't have been older than six.

She wore a faded gray dress and clutched something tightly in her tiny hand.

Security tried to stop her, but before anyone could react, she walked straight toward Sophia.

"Miss..."

Her soft voice echoed through the silent bridal room.

"My mommy told me to give this to you... before you marry him."

The child opened her hand.

Inside lay an old gold locket.

The moment Sophia touched it...

Her smile disappeared.

Her hands began to tremble.

She recognized it instantly.

It wasn't just any necklace.

It was the one her older sister Emma had been wearing the night she disappeared eight years earlier.

Emma had vanished without leaving a trace.

The police had called it a missing-person case.

Their parents died believing Emma had simply run away.

But Sophia knew her sister would never abandon the family.

She had searched for years.

Nothing.

Until now.

"Where did you get this?" Sophia whispered.

The little girl looked down.

"My mommy said... the man you're marrying kept it hidden for a very long time."

Sophia felt the room spin.

Her heart pounded so violently she could barely breathe.

Outside, the wedding music had already begun.

Ethan was waiting at the altar.

Smiling.

Completely unaware that his perfect future was about to collapse.

Before Sophia could ask another question...

The little girl added one final sentence.

"My mommy said... if he sees me here... he'll know she's still alive."

Silence.

Every sound disappeared.

Sophia slowly looked toward the chapel doors.

For the first time...

She wasn't wondering whether she should get married.

May you like

She was wondering...

Who Ethan really was.
