CHAPTER 2 – The Secret Hidden Inside the Locket
Sophia canceled the wedding procession.
Guests whispered.
Some thought she was having a panic attack.
Others assumed cold feet.
Only Ethan looked frightened.
Not confused.

His eyes locked onto the little girl.
For a split second...
The confident smile vanished from his face.
Sophia noticed it immediately.
She opened the old locket.

The chapel exploded into chaos.

"My mommy is outside."

She pushed through the crowd and burst into the parking lot.

Sophia collapsed into her sister's arms, crying uncontrollably.
Emma whispered through tears,
"You can't marry him."
"He didn't just destroy my life..."
"He built his entire future on the lie that I was dead."
Before Sophia could ask what she meant...
A black SUV sped into the parking lot.
Several men in dark suits jumped out.
Emma's face turned white.
"They found us."
She shoved the little girl into Sophia's arms.
"Take my daughter."
"No matter what happens... never let Ethan know who her real father is."
The SUV doors slammed shut.
One of the men shouted,
"Grab Emma!"
Sophia screamed as Emma was dragged away.
Then Ethan slowly walked out of the chapel.
He wasn't chasing Emma.
He wasn't calling the police.
He simply looked at Sophia...
and smiled.
A calm, chilling smile.
"You should have married me while you still had the chance."
And in that terrifying moment...
Sophia realized the wedding had never been the beginning of her new life.
