Chapter 9 - A NEW DAWNThree months later.

The St. Aurelia ballroom was once again filled with music, laughter, and light—not for a wedding this time, but for the inaugural charity gala hosted by the Apex Vanguard Foundation, dedicated to supporting displaced youth and survivors of domestic corporate abuse.

The room was packed with brilliant innovators, ethical business leaders, and high-ranking military officials. There were no fake smiles, no superficial status symbols, and no tyrants holding court.

At the head table sat Martha, laughing heartily as she chatted with a group of top tech executives who treated her with the utmost respect and adoration.

Julian and Elena were happily dancing near the center of the floor, glowing with the quiet confidence of a couple who had conquered the world together.

And I stood on the balcony overlooking the glittering night skyline of the city, holding a glass of sparkling water.

The glass door slid open softly, and Marcus Vance stepped out onto the balcony, holding a fresh dossier.

“Admiral,” Marcus greeted politely. “Just received the final liquidation report from the court receivership.”

I turned, resting my arms against the stone railing. “And?”

“Conrad’s estate has been fully auctioned off,” Marcus reported smoothly. “The proceeds have been redirected into the employee pension fund he embezzled from twenty-one years ago. As for Conrad and Damian... they’ve relocated to a small, rundown motel on the outskirts of the city. Damian is working the night shift at a 24-hour diner, and Conrad... well, Conrad spends his days sitting on a park bench, talking to nobody.”

I looked out at the city lights, feeling a profound sense of closure wash over my soul.

“Did they ever realize who destroyed them?” I asked quietly.

“They didn't have to,” Marcus replied, adjusting his glasses. “Because every time they look at the morning paper, they see your face on the front page, leading the future.”

I smiled, taking a sip of my water.

“Good.”
