The restaurant Alejandro took them to was a private, Michelin-starred establishment overlooking the city lights of Guadalajara. For the first time in years, Don Arturo and Doña Carmen sat at a table of honor, treated with the utmost respect by the staff and a genuine billionaire.

But Valeria's mind was on the text message she had just received from an unknown number:

"Check the bank account of your logistics company's main payroll. Mauricio didn't just approve the seating chart, Valeria. He signed a power of attorney transfer three days ago using a forged signature. He was planning to drain your company tonight."

Valeria's blood ran cold. She excused herself from the table and immediately called her head of cybersecurity.

Within ten minutes, the truth was laid bare. Mauricio had used his position as her fiancé and temporary consultant to draft a fraudulent document, attempting to transfer 5 million pesos of her company's capital to an offshore account in the Bahamas—set to clear at midnight.

"He didn't just want to humiliate my family," Valeria whispered, her eyes burning with a cold, lethal fire as she walked back to the table. "He wanted to rob us blind and leave us with nothing."

Alejandro noticed her expression. "Valeria? Is everything alright?"

She showed him the screen. Alejandro’s face darkened.

"This is grand larceny," Alejandro said, his voice flat. "If he clears that transfer, he faces fifteen years in federal prison. Do you want me to call the district attorney? He is a close friend of mine."
