Chapter 4 - THE SAFEHOUSE CONFRONTATION

Hook: “To save his sons, the ruthless businessman had to become a criminal.”For three days, the city was captivated by the headline: BILLIONAIRE CEO RICHARD HAIL WANTED FOR ABDUCTION OF FOUR ANONYMOUS CHILDREN.
The media, fed narratives by Evelyn’s PR machine, painted Richard as a man who had lost his mind to grief, kidnapping random children to replace his dead sons.
Richard, Lena, and the four boys were hiding in a dilapidated, abandoned motel on the outskirts of the state line, paid for with cash Richard kept in his office safe.
Inside Room 12, the atmosphere was a mix of intense fear and profound healing. Richard spent those seventy-two hours doing what he hadn't done in five years: being a father. He learned their names—the names Lena had found written on their medical charts before they were destroyed: Arthur, Thomas, Charles, and David.
He watched them eat proper meals for the first time. He taught them how to tie their shoes. He held them when they woke up screaming from nightmares of the dark cottage.
"They don't know what a playground is," Lena said quietly as they watched the boys assemble a makeshift tower out of plastic cups on the motel floor. "Evelyn kept them hidden away like dirty secrets."
"She treated them like liabilities," Richard said, his eyes burning with a cold fury. "But they are my greatest assets. I’m going to take everything she loves—the company, the status, the family name—and I’m going to burn it to the ground."
A soft, rhythmic knock on the door interrupted them. Three short taps, one long.
Richard pulled a legally gray firearm from his waistband and stood by the wall. "Who is it?"
"It’s Marcus, sir. I’m alone."
Richard unlocked the door, letting the giant security chief inside. Marcus looked exhausted, his suit rumpled. He threw a thick, sealed vanilla envelope onto the bed.
"I found them," Marcus said. "It wasn't in a bank vault or a company safe. Evelyn kept the original, unaltered hospital records in her personal safe at her penthouse downtown. It proves the quadruple birth, it proves all four boys survived, and it has the DNA signatures matching your bloodline."
Richard picked up the documents. This was his golden ticket. With this, he could clear his name and expose Evelyn to the world.
"There's a catch, sir," Marcus added grimly. "Evelyn knows I helped you. She had her lawyers freeze all your personal and corporate bank accounts this morning. You’re broke, Richard. You can't hire a defense team. And she’s called an emergency shareholder meeting for tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM to officially strip you of the CEO title and vote herself in as permanent chairperson."
"She thinks money is the only currency that matters," Richard said, a dark smile playing on his lips. "She forgets that I built the infrastructure of that company. I know how to bypass her security."
"What’s the plan, Mr. Hail?" Lena asked, holding Charles close.

Richard looked at his four sons. They were no longer thin and terrified; they looked like Hails. Resilient. Strong.
"Tomorrow, we don't go to court," Richard said. "We go to the boardroom. We're going to crash her coronation."
