Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Empire’s EnemiesThe raid on Adrian’s personal estate and corporate offices happened within two hours. Federal agents didn't just find the forged legal documents; they uncovered a massive corporate espionage ring. Adrian had been systematically draining Carter Global’s subsidiary accounts for months, plotting a hostile takeover the moment he thought he had successfully eliminated me.

By evening, news outlets had picked up the story.
"BILLIONAIRE WEDDING NIGHT HORROR: CEO NATHAN CARTER EXPOSES WIFE AND BUSINESS PARTNER IN MASSIVE MURDER-CONSPIRACY PLOT."
Headlines screamed across every digital platform and national news channel. Photos of Adrian and Isabella being hauled out of the corporate headquarters in handcuffs flashed across screens nationwide.
I sat in my penthouse office, swirling a glass of neat whiskey—the exact same brand they had tried to poison—as I watched the broadcast on mute.
The front door opened, and Rosa walked in, carrying a fresh stack of legal briefs.
"The federal prosecutor just called, Mr. Carter," Rosa said, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and relief. "They’re charging both of them with conspiracy to commit murder, wire fraud, and corporate racketeering. With the evidence we handed over, neither of them will see daylight for the next twenty years."
I nodded slowly, taking a sip of the whiskey.
"Good," I said quietly. "What about the board members who were secretly backing Adrian?"
"Three of them have already tendered their resignations," Rosa replied, placing the files on my desk. "They’re terrified you’re coming for them next."

I looked up at her and smiled.
"Oh, Rosa," I said softly. "I’m not coming for them next. I’m going to let them sweat. Fear is a much more effective management tool than termination."
