Chapter 4 - Public ExecutionThe Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Real de Minas was packed to capacity. Over fifty local journalists, camera crews, and curious socialites filled the room, drawn by the sudden, sensational feud between the prestigious Salgado estate and the young self-defense instructor.

At the center of the stage stood a single podium, equipped with four microphones and a massive projection screen behind it.
Mireya Salgado herself arrived unannounced, flanked by two high-priced defense lawyers and a entourage of conservative community leaders. She took a seat in the front row, crossing her arms, her face set in a cold sneer of absolute defiance. She believed Valeria was bluffing—that an orphan girl without political backing would crumble under the weight of a public smear campaign.
At 7:00 PM precisely, Valeria walked onto the stage. She wore no makeup, no expensive jewelry—just a simple black turtleneck and jeans. Her ankle was still neatly bandaged, visible to the front-row cameras.
"Good evening," Valeria began, her voice steady and carrying easily through the acoustic hall. "Three days ago, I stood in this very room and exchanged vows with Bruno Salgado. Today, I am here to discuss the true cost of those vows."
Mireya’s lawyer stood up immediately. "Objection! This is a public defamation spectacle! My client will file an injunction!"
"Sit down, counselor," Valeria said, not even looking at him. She pressed a button on a remote control in her hand.
The giant screen behind her flickered to life.
It wasn't the video of the kitchen fight. It was something much older.
The screen displayed a series of bank statements dating back five years, showing systematic monthly transfers from the account of the late Judge Roberto Salgado into an offshore account in Panama owned by Mireya Salgado.
The crowd gasped. Reporters began snapping photos frantically.
"For five years," Valeria explained coldly, "Mireya Salgado systematically siphoned her father-in-law’s life savings while keeping him isolated in a private care facility. When the Judge discovered this months before his death, he modified his final will. He didn't just leave his estate to a trust... he left a full forensic audit report in the care of his primary physician."
Mireya snapped out of her seat, her face turning purple. "Lie! That’s a forged document! You stole those files!"
"I didn't steal them, Mireya," Valeria said softly. "Judge Roberto Salgado gave them to me himself... three months before I ever agreed to date your son."
A suffocating silence fell over the ballroom.
Mireya froze, her eyes wide with total disbelief. "What... what did you say?"
Valeria took a step forward to the edge of the stage, looking directly down at the trembling matriarch.
"Did you really think it was a coincidence that Bruno met me at the community center?" Valeria said, her voice echoing through the silent room. "Did you really believe your son stumbled into my life by accident? Judge Roberto reached out to my organization a year ago. He knew he was dying. He knew you were draining his legacy, and he knew you were grooming Bruno to become the same abusive parasite that your husband was."
Valeria hit the remote again.
A high-definition audio track filled the room. It was the voice of the late Judge Roberto Salgado, recorded shortly before his death.
“If you are listening to this, it means my daughter-in-law Mireya has attempted to use my grandson to claim what remains of my family’s name. Valeria, I give you full legal authority to use my estate to dismantle every lie she has built. Do not spare them. Teach them that cruelty is not a family tradition—it is a crime.”

Mireya’s legs gave out. She collapsed backward into her seat, gasping for air as the room erupted into chaos. Flashes exploded everywhere. Reporters shoved microphones toward Mireya’s face, shouting questions about embezzlement, fraud, and corporate theft.
Valeria stood at the podium, unmoving, watching the empire of deceit crumble in real time.
