CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET THAT SHOOK BLACK RIDGE PRISON

The dining hall fell into complete silence.
Even Strength lowered his fist.
No one had ever seen guards run toward an inmate with panic on their faces.
The prison warden himself burst through the doors.
His expression wasn't angry.
It was terrified.
"Step away from him!"
The order echoed through the cafeteria.
Strength frowned.
"What?"
"I said NOW!"
For the first time in years...
The most feared inmate in Black Ridge actually stepped backward.
The warden reached Walter first.
"Sir... are you hurt?"
Every inmate stared in disbelief.
Sir?
The prison warden had just called an inmate...
Sir.
Walter gently wiped porridge from his sleeve.
"I'm fine."
"You shouldn't have been touched."
Walter smiled.
"People make mistakes."
The warden immediately turned toward the guards.
"Lock down the cafeteria!"
Steel doors slammed shut.
No one could leave.
Strength finally laughed.
"What is this? Is Grandpa some kind of celebrity?"
Nobody answered.
Instead...
A black SUV rolled into the prison courtyard.
Then another.
Then another.
Minutes later, several officials in dark suits entered the prison.
Not police.
Not prison staff.
Federal investigators.
One of them carried a thick folder.
Another walked straight toward Walter.
Without hesitation...
He extended his hand.
"Mr. Walter Harrison..."
"...we finally found you."
Gasps filled the room.
The investigator opened the folder.
"There has been a major breakthrough."
"Your business partner confessed after being arrested in Switzerland."
"He admitted forging every document."
"The money trail has been recovered."
"The witnesses have been located."
"You are completely innocent."
The room exploded with whispers.
Walter closed his eyes for several seconds.
Not because he was excited.
Because he had prayed every night that truth would eventually win.
The investigator continued.
"The Governor personally signed your immediate release."
"And..."
He paused.
"...the State has approved a record compensation package."
Every inmate looked at Walter differently now.
Strength felt his stomach tighten.
But the biggest shock hadn't arrived yet.
The investigator pulled another document from the folder.
"There's something else."
"The Harrison Foundation..."
"...which donates billions to hospitals, schools, orphanages, and rehabilitation programs..."
"...belongs to you."
Even the guards looked stunned.
Walter wasn't just innocent.
He was one of the country's greatest philanthropists.
The old man who had quietly shared bread with prisoners...
...had secretly spent decades helping strangers.
Strength suddenly remembered something.
Two nights earlier...
Walter had given his dessert to a sick inmate.
Last week...
He had fixed another prisoner's broken glasses.
He had asked for nothing in return.
For the first time in many years...
Strength couldn't look someone in the eyes.
And Walter wasn't finished surprising everyone.
He slowly walked toward the giant.
Everyone expected anger.
Revenge.
Humiliation.
Instead...
Walter gently placed a hand on Strength's shoulder.
"You look tired."
Strength froze.
"When was the last time someone treated you like a human being?"
The giant couldn't answer.
Because he couldn't remember.
Then...
Something happened no one inside Black Ridge ever imagined.
May you like
The most feared killer in the prison...
...began to cry.
