CHAPTER 4 – THE WARNING IN THE SNOW

Three months after the wolf attack, Carter Farm became famous.

Reporters came.

Neighbors came.

Even people from other counties drove by just to see Ranger—the giant white dog who had stood against a wolf pack and survived.

But fame brought danger.

One cold morning, Thomas found strange footprints near the back fence.

Not wolf tracks.

Human boots.

Beside them was a piece of broken wire.

Someone had tried to open the gate.

That night, Ranger refused to sleep.

He stood on the porch, staring at the black forest.

Emily whispered, ā€œGrandpa… what is he looking at?ā€

Thomas didn’t answer.

Because far away, beyond the frozen trees, a truck engine started.

And inside that truck sat two men with cages, rifles, and a cruel plan.

They weren’t hunting sheep.

They were hunting wolves.

And somehow…

They knew Ranger could lead them to the pack.
