Chapter 4 - THE EXILE AND THE AUDITWithin two hours, Rosa was gone.

She packed her locker in the staff quarters, grabbed Lily, and walked out of the iron gates of the Caldwell estate before security could even process what had happened. She didn't want severance pay. She didn't want an apology. She wanted to disappear back into the quiet life she had built before the billionaire’s shadow swallowed her up again.

Back inside the mansion, however, the fallout was catastrophic.

Ethan Caldwell did not yell. He did not smash furniture. He simply sat behind the massive mahogany desk in his private study, his expression carved from stone.

Standing across from him was Marcus Vance, his chief legal counsel and head of security. Marcus looked terrified.

"Mr. Caldwell... the wedding venue has already been paid for. The catering deposit is non-refundable. And Senator Haynes—Victoria’s father—is already on line one. He’s threatening to pull his support from the upcoming municipal development contract."

Ethan slowly raised his eyes from a DNA test requisition form sitting on his desk.

"Let him," Ethan said coldly.

"Sir?"

"Cancel everything. Every contract tied to the Haynes family. Audit every single subsidiary they co-own with us. If there is a single financial discrepancy, I want it on my desk by morning." Ethan leaned forward, interlocking his fingers. "And find Rosa Martinez."

"We checked her employment file, sir. She gave a temporary address in the East District, but—"

"Find her," Ethan repeated, his voice dropping an octave. "And Marcus? If anyone from the press, the Haynes family, or corporate boardrooms asks where I am... tell them I am busy dismantling a mistake."

By midnight, the Caldwell empire was in a state of quiet panic. But Ethan didn't care about stocks, boards, or scandals. He had spent three years believing he was completely alone in the world, building a fortress to protect a heart that had grown cold.

Now, he realized he had a daughter. And someone had made her bleed on his floor.
