Chapter 6 - The Shattered Legacy and the Final Twist

Six months later.
The Vance empire was gone. The scandal, the murders, the poisoning, and the financial ruin had completely liquidated the multi-billion-dollar company. The luxury villa had been seized by the government to pay off debts.
Clara stood in a small, quiet cemetery on the outskirts of the city. She placed a single white rose on a fresh tombstone.
Richard hadn't died from the gunshot. He had died three weeks later in the hospital—not from the poison, and not from his wounds, but from a broken heart. He had signed over his remaining personal wealth, a meager few hundred thousand dollars, entirely to Clara before he passed.
Clara turned to leave, her coat wrapped tightly against the autumn wind. As she reached the cemetery gates, a sleek black sedan pulled up. A man in a tailored suit stepped out, holding a manila folder. It was her father’s private attorney, Mr. Sterling.
"Miss Vance," Mr. Sterling said softly. "I was instructed by your father to deliver this to you exactly six months after his passing. He said it was the final piece of the puzzle."
Clara took the envelope with trembling fingers. She opened it and pulled out a DNA test result dated four years ago—long before Elena had ever entered their lives.
She scanned the document, and her breath caught in her throat.
The DNA test was between Richard Vance and Clara Vance. The probability of paternity: 0.00%.
Attached to the test was a handwritten note from Richard:
My dearest Clara, I knew. I knew from the day you turned eighteen that you were not my biological daughter. Your mother had a secret, just like everyone else in this cursed family. But I chose to love you anyway. I let you think you were protecting me, let you expose Elena and Victor because I needed someone with clean hands to burn the Vance empire to the ground. If I had done it, the authorities would have taken everything. But because you were the "innocent victim," the trust fund I set up for you in Switzerland—under your mother's maiden name—remains untouched. You are free, Clara. You have 50 million dollars, and you are finally free of the Vance bloodline. Don't look back.
Clara stared at the paper as tears welled in her eyes. A bitter, dark smile spread across her lips.
She wasn't a Vance. The father she had fought for wasn't her father. He had used her vengeance to execute his own master plan, turning his own daughter into the ultimate pawn to liquidate his corrupt legacy and hide his wealth away from the government, his brother, and his wife.

She crumpled the note, tossed it into a nearby trash bin, and stepped into the back of the sedan.
The Vance family was destroyed forever—but Clara was just getting started
