Chapter 5 - The Wedding Morning After — "The Bride Flees to Vancouver with the Trust Money, Leaving My Brother with the Bill!"

By Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, the Fairmont Olympic grand ballroom was a distant memory, replaced by a brutal reality check. The scandal from the wedding toast had already leaked to The Seattle Times and several prominent social media accounts.

But the real bomb went off at the luxury hotel suite where Julian and Vanessa were spending their first morning as newlyweds.

I was sitting in my penthouse kitchen, drinking black coffee, when my brother Julian burst through my elevator entry. He wasn't the smug, arrogant golden boy from the night before. His tuxedo shirt was unbuttoned, his eyes were bloodshot, and he was clutching a single sheet of paper.

"Samantha! You have to help me! You have to call Grandpa!" Julian cried out, stumbling into the kitchen and dropping to his knees beside my stool.

"What happened, Julian?" I asked, my voice entirely devoid of warmth. "Where is your beautiful new bride?"

"She’s gone," he choked out, sobbing hysterically. "Vanessa is gone. I woke up at 6:00 AM, and all her suitcases were cleared out. Her passport was missing from the safe. I called her cell, and it’s disconnected."

He slammed the paper onto the counter. It was a bank printout.

The Departure Note: Written on the hotel’s notepad in elegant cursive: "Thanks for the wedding, Julian. Your mother was right—the Adams name looks great in pearls, but your bank accounts are entirely hollow. Don't look for me."

"She cleaned us out, Sam," Julian wailed, his forehead pressed against my marble counter. "The twelve million from the logistics company, my personal savings... she even took the wedding gifts and the designer jewelry Dad bought her for the ceremony. The hotel just told me the entire reception bill—$280,000 for the Fairmont ballroom—was declined on Dad's card. They’re holding me personally liable!"

"You wanted the penthouse because you thought you were entitled to a luxury life without working for it, Julian," I said, looking down at his pathetic, shivering form. "You watched Mother alienate me, ruin my career reputation, and attempt to commit our grandfather to an asylum, and you sat there and smiled because you thought you were getting a $3.5 million reward."

"I didn't know she was going to forge the medical documents! I swear I didn't know!" he lied, his voice pitching high.

"You knew enough to stay silent," I said, standing up and stepping away from him. "Arthur, remove him from the premises. He can use the public transit system downstairs to go find our parents. They have a lot to talk about."
