CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN THEY THOUGHT WAS JUST AN INMATE

The next morning...

Every inmate sensed something strange.

Extra officers.

Security cameras being adjusted.

Even the prison warden personally walked through the yard.

That never happened.

Vanessa didn't care.

She had only one goal.

Destroy Kate.

During work assignment in the prison warehouse, Vanessa's crew surrounded the newcomer.

Seven against one.

No witnesses.

No cameras.

Or so they thought.

Vanessa smiled.

"Still think you're tough?"

Kate sighed.

"I don't want to hurt anyone."

The women burst into laughter.

Vanessa swung first.

Kate moved.

Everything happened too fast.

One woman hit a shelf.

Another lost her balance.

A third ended up face down on the concrete.

Kate never threw a punch.

She simply redirected every attack.

Within twenty seconds...

Seven inmates lay groaning across the warehouse floor.

Kate stood untouched.

The warehouse door burst open.

Dozens of officers stormed inside.

Everyone expected Kate to be dragged away.

Instead...

The captain looked directly at her.

"Are you injured?"

The room went completely silent.

Vanessa stared in disbelief.

Since when did officers ask inmates if they were okay?

Kate quietly answered,

"I'm fine."

The captain nodded respectfully.

"Medical staff will still examine you."

Respectfully.

Respect.

Toward an inmate.

The whispers spread like wildfire.

Vanessa felt fear for the first time.

That afternoon, the prison warden called an emergency meeting.

Every senior officer attended.

The files on the conference table carried one name.

KATE MORGAN.

The deputy warden slowly opened the folder.

Inside were dozens of classified pages.

Military commendations.

Government security clearances.

Photographs that immediately changed the atmosphere.

One officer whispered,

"...You're telling me SHE did all this?"

The warden nodded.

"Before prison...

Kate Morgan completed covert operations that remain classified today."

Another officer swallowed hard.

"And now she's here because..."

The room became silent.

The answer was only three words.

"She confessed intentionally."

Nobody understood.

Why would someone with that background voluntarily enter prison?

Then the final page was turned.

A single photograph.

Vanessa's face appeared.

Underneath it...

One handwritten sentence.

Primary target confirmed.

The prison wasn't trapping Kate.

May you like

Kate had come...

For someone inside.
