Chapter 7 - The RevelationAdrian stared at Victor Hawthorne standing in the pouring rain, the flash drive gleaming in the dim amber light of the alley security bulb.

For a moment, the weight of his entire criminal empire seemed to hang in the balance. Three years of careful planning, untouchable influence, and untouchable wealth—all sitting on a tiny chip in Victor's hand.

"You think you've won, Victor?" Adrian asked, his voice cutting through the storm.

Victor laughed heartily, the sound echoing off the brick walls. "Look around you, Adrian! Your empire is built on paper and secrets. Once federal prosecutors open these files tonight, your banks will freeze, your judges will run for cover, and your men will turn on you to save themselves. You're finished."

Claire watched Adrian from the passenger seat of the SUV, her breath catching in her throat. She reached out, touching his coat sleeve. "Adrian... I'm so sorry. It's my fault. I shouldn't have trusted Derek."

Adrian turned to look at her. The harsh rain plastered his dark hair to his temples, but his eyes were remarkably calm. He reached up and gently touched the scratch on her cheek with his thumb.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Claire," he said softly.

Then, Adrian turned back to face Victor Hawthorne. A slow, terrifying smile spread across his lips.

Victor’s laughter faltered. He frowned, lowering the flash drive slightly. "What are you smiling at, you arrogant bastard?"

Adrian raised his left hand and two fingers clicked together.

Beep.

From inside Victor's breast pocket, a soft electronic chime rang out.

Victor froze. He reached into his coat, pulled out his smartphone, and stared at the screen in utter disbelief. Every single secure terminal on his own network had just locked down.

"What... what is this?" Victor stammered, tapping frantically at his phone. "My servers... my offshore accounts... they're being wiped."

Adrian stepped closer, his voice echoing with absolute authority.

"You thought Derek Walsh was working for you, Victor?" Adrian smiled coldly. "Derek was deep in debt to my loan sharks six months ago. We didn't just find out about your plot to steal my ledgers. We wrote them."
