Chapter 4 - Morning in GangnamThe morning sun broke over Seoul, casting brilliant rays of gold across the panoramic glass windows of the Gangnam estate.

Perched on the highest ridge of the most exclusive residential enclave in South Korea, the estate was a masterpiece of modern architecture—surrounded by towering black steel gates, manicured Zen gardens, and a private security courtyard that overlooked the entire city.

I stood on the second-floor balcony, wrapped in a cashmere robe, sipping black coffee while Attorney Park stood a few paces behind me, holding a thick stack of leather-bound corporate folios.

“The board of directors for Meridian Global Holdings is assembling for their emergency quarterly review in Gangnam this morning,” Park reported, his eyes lowered in deep respect. “Your husband’s development firm, Min-jae Constructions, is desperately petitioning for a twenty-million-dollar emergency credit line to save their upcoming commercial project. Without it, they face total liquidation by Friday.”

I looked out over the sprawling skyline, watching the tiny dots of cars moving through the traffic miles below.

“Min-jae’s firm has been over-leveraged for months,” I said quietly, setting my coffee cup down on the marble railing. “He thinks he’s a visionary developer, but every major land acquisition he’s made over the past three years was backed by anonymous seed capital from my grandfather’s trust.”

“Which you can withdraw at any second, Madam,” Park added with a faint, knowing smirk.

“Not yet,” I replied, turning around to face him. “Let him crawl to the board first. Let him humiliate himself trying to secure funding from strangers. Only when he is completely out of options... we will reveal who holds the master lease.”
