Chapter 7 - NORTHSTAR HORIZONS

Six months later.
The morning sun reflected brilliantly off the pristine white hull of the Northstar Explorer, the crown jewel of our company’s luxury fleet, docked gracefully at the Port of Seattle.
I stood on the private VIP observation deck on Deck 10, dressed in a sleek white linen blazer and oversized designer sunglasses, holding a flute of vintage champagne. Beside me, my sister laughed as she snapped photos of the stunning Seattle skyline and the snow-capped peak of Mount Rainier in the distance.
“Are you sure you don't want to reconsider?” my sister teased playfully, raising her glass. “We could invite a couple of handsome executives to join our balcony suite.”
“Absolutely not,” I laughed, clinking my glass against hers with a bright, genuine smile. “This suite is strictly reserved for people who know how to book their own trips and appreciate loyalty.”
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, glancing briefly at the screen before archiving the notification without even opening it. It was an email alert from the county court regarding Daniel’s community service hours at a local highway cleanup crew. Vanessa’s real estate firm had officially dissolved under bankruptcy and fraud investigations, and Claire’s high-society wedding had been quietly downgraded to a civil courthouse ceremony with zero guests.
They had tried to play a high-stakes game of manipulation, believing they could walk all over the woman who quietly held the strings to their entire world. They had forgotten a very simple, fundamental truth.
You never, ever mess with the person who holds the master keys to the system.

“All passengers, please prepare for final boarding,” the ship's melodic loudspeaker announced across the terminal.
I took one last sip of my champagne, turned away from the city, and walked gracefully down the gangway toward the ship. My life, my career, and my future were wide open, smooth, and entirely under my own control. And the best part? I didn't have to plan a single apology for anyone ever again.
