Chapter 8 - The Morning Sun

The sun was just beginning to rise over the misty mountains of San Pedro, casting warm golden light across the manicured lawns of the grand Cárdenas estate.

In the second-floor nursery—the room that had been locked in darkness for three long years—the velvet curtains were wide open. Sunlight flooded every corner, illuminating the white crib and the colorful toys.

Standing by the window was a three-year-old girl with bright green eyes and soft curly dark hair. She was wearing a yellow sundress, holding a small stuffed bear.

The door opened softly.

Rodrigo stepped into the room. The powerful, terrifying billionaire looked fragile, his chest heaving as he stared at the little girl who had haunted his dreams for a thousand nights.

Elena stepped up beside him, gently placing a hand on his back.

"Go on," Elena whispered with a warm, encouraging smile. "She knows you."

Rodrigo fell to his knees, tears streaming freely down his face. He extended his arms. "Isabella... Mia..."

The little girl looked at him with big, curious green eyes. She looked at Elena, who nodded gently, then looked back at Rodrigo.

She took three tiny steps forward, reached out her small hands, and wrapped them around Rodrigo’s neck. "Daddy?" she piped in a soft, sweet voice.

Rodrigo pulled his daughter tight into his embrace, weeping openly, burying his face in her hair. The heavy weight of three years of grief vanished into the morning air.

Elena turned quietly to leave the room, wanting to give them privacy, but Rodrigo reached out and caught her hand.

He looked up at Elena, his eyes full of deep gratitude, respect, and something entirely new—a spark of profound affection that had conquered his frozen heart.

"Don't go," Rodrigo said, his voice raw with emotion. "You saved her life, Elena. You brought light back into this house. There is no job for a maid here anymore... because this is your home now."

Elena smiled through her tears, reaching down to hold both Rodrigo’s and Isabella’s hands.
