📖 Chapter 1: The Voice from the Grave

Arthur’s fingers brushed the plastic casing of the tape. Evelyn grabbed his arm, her manicured nails digging into his expensive tuxedo.
"Arthur! Who is this street rat? Call security!" she hissed, her voice cracking under the weight of 500 pairs of eyes—and a hundred raised smartphones.
Arthur didn’t hear her. He snatched the tape, his eyes wild with a mixture of terror and profound grief. Without a word, he marched toward the DJ booth. The DJ scrambled backward as Arthur shoved the ancient cassette into a vintage deck hooked up to the ballroom's massive surround-sound system.
He hit PLAY.
A harsh static filled the room, making the guests wince. Then, a soft, breathless voice echoed through the speakers. It was melodic, hollow, and hauntingly familiar to Arthur.
"Arthur... if you are hearing this, I am already gone. The cancer took me this morning. But I couldn't leave this world keeping your greatest secret."
Evelyn gasped, covering her mouth. The crowd began to whisper furiously.
"Eight years ago, your mother paid me two million dollars to disappear, telling me you consented to it. She told me an aspiring artist like me would only ruin your family’s pristine bloodline. I believed her. I ran. But weeks later, I found out I was pregnant with Leo."
The voice paused, coughing weakly.
"I never cashed her checks, Arthur. I raised our son alone in poverty while you built your empire. Look at him. Look at his eyes. He is your son, Arthur. Don't let your mother destroy his life the way she destroyed ours."

The tape clicked off. The silence that followed was suffocating.
Arthur slowly turned around, his eyes locking onto his mother, Eleanor Sterling, who sat in the front row. Her face was a mask of cold, unbothered arrogance.
