CHAPTER 6 — THE TRUE TEST
Thirty days after giving Layla the golden card, the palace assembled for the final judgment.
Every royal adviser attended.
Foreign ambassadors filled the gallery.
The former wives had even been invited, curious to witness another inevitable divorce.
The royal attorney stood beside the throne with prepared divorce papers.
"The inspection may begin."
The accountant projected the bank records onto a massive screen.

He walked toward Layla until only a few feet separated them.
"You completed the task."
She remained calm.
"I did."
"But I have one final question."
She nodded.
"If I had died yesterday..."
"Would you have regretted spending all that money on strangers?"
Without hesitation she answered,
"No."
Gasps echoed through the palace.
Even the attorney looked stunned.
Layla continued.
"Because money that changes lives is never wasted."
"If I had bought jewels, they would gather dust."
"If I had bought another palace, it would stand empty."
"But children who receive an education..."
"...families who drink clean water..."
"...patients treated in a clinic..."
"They become a legacy that keeps growing long after we're gone."
Silence.
Heavy.
Absolute.
Kareem looked around the throne room.

He turned toward the royal council.

"And I feared trusting anyone."
He faced Layla.
"You were the first person who never tried to win the test."
"You simply did what you believed was right."
Then, in front of the entire court, Sheikh Kareem removed the golden bank card from his pocket.
Instead of handing it to another wife...
He snapped it in half.
"The test ends today."
The palace erupted into stunned silence before the applause began.
