CHAPTER 2 — The Secret Hidden Inside the Stallion

The next morning, hundreds gathered around the royal arena.

Nobles.

Journalists.

Military officers.

Even neighboring princes arrived to witness what everyone believed would become another tragedy.

Doctors stood ready.

An ambulance waited outside the gates.

The sheikh watched confidently.

"This will last less than a minute."

The massive arena doors opened.

Shadow King exploded inside.

He reared so high his front hooves sliced through the air.

Servants screamed.

Several guards instinctively stepped backward.

Then...

Leila entered.

No whip.

No saddle.

No rope.

Only a small cloth bag hanging from her shoulder.

The crowd laughed.

"She's insane."

"She'll be dead within seconds."

Shadow King charged.

Dust erupted beneath his hooves.

The entire audience stood.

The sheikh smiled.

Then...

Leila did something no trainer had ever attempted.

She turned her back on the charging horse.

Gasps echoed everywhere.

Instead of running...

She slowly knelt.

From the bag, she removed a faded blue scarf.

The moment the horse saw it...

Everything changed.

Shadow King stopped so abruptly that sand sprayed across the arena.

His ears lifted.

His eyes widened.

A heartbreaking whinny echoed across the palace.

The terrifying stallion...

Began trembling.

Leila whispered only four words.

"I remember your mother."

Tears rolled down the old stable master's face.

He finally understood.

Twenty-five years earlier...

The palace had secretly purchased a pregnant mare from a remote desert tribe.

She had belonged to Leila's late father.

The mare died giving birth.

The newborn foal disappeared into the royal stables.

Everyone believed the child of that mare had forgotten.

But horses never forget.

Leila slowly approached.

Shadow King pressed his forehead against hers.

The crowd stood frozen.

The horse everyone feared...

Started crying.

The sheikh couldn't believe his eyes.

"Impossible..."

Leila gently stroked the stallion's face.

"You were never wild."

"You were lonely."

The arena fell completely silent.

But then...

An elderly man stepped forward from the crowd.

He wore the robes of the former royal veterinarian.

His voice shook.

"Your Highness..."

"I lied twenty-five years ago."

Every head turned.

"I was ordered to erase every record."

"The mare wasn't bought."

"She was stolen."

"And the man who owned her..."

He looked directly at Leila.

"...was murdered."

The sheikh's face lost all color.

May you like

Because the order...

Had been signed by his own father.
