Chapter 5 - THE TRAP IS SPRUNG — FAMILY FEUD

Ethan stared at the screen, his blood running cold. His own uncle had sabotaged his father's dream project. Richard had murdered Arthur Vance—or had him disappear—to cover up a multi-million-dollar embezzlement scheme that would have killed hundreds of innocent families living in those buildings.

"He killed him," Ethan whispered, his hands trembling with rage. "My uncle killed Arthur."

Suddenly, Ethan’s phone rang. It was an unknown number.

He answered it. "Ethan speaking."

"Nephew," a smooth, chillingly familiar voice chuckled through the speaker. "I see you've found my little lost sheep. And my flash drive."

"Richard," Ethan growled, his knuckles turning white. "You're a monster. You compromised the structural integrity of the housing projects. You targeted Arthur Vance."

"Arthur was a fool who didn't understand how business works," Richard said dismissively. "And speaking of fools... you really shouldn't have left your safe house's location history in your car's GPS, Ethan."

Ethan’s heart dropped. He looked at Marcus, but before Marcus could raise his weapon, the glass balcony doors shattered inward.

Flashbang grenades detonated with blinding light and deafening noise.

Ethan was thrown to the floor, his ears ringing, his vision swimming. Through the smoke, he saw men in tactical gear rushing into the room. Marcus fought brutally, taking down two men, but a third struck him from behind with a heavy stun baton.

Ethan tried to crawl toward Lily and Leo, who were screaming in terror.
