Chapter 7 - THE FINAL TWIST — A NEW DAWN

Richard spun around, his eyes wide with absolute horror.
Before he could even process what was happening, the elevator doors at the center of the floor hissed open. Out stepped Marcus, bruised but furious, flanked by a dozen heavily armed SWAT officers.
"Drop the gun, Richard!" Marcus roared.
Richard, panicked and desperate, grabbed Ethan, pulling him up from the chair and holding the pistol to Ethan's temple, backing toward the edge of the high-rise.
"Stay back! Or I'll jump with him!" Richard screamed, his voice cracking with madness. "I built this company! I won't let some soft-hearted boy ruin it!"
Ethan didn't panic. He looked at his uncle—the man who had destroyed so many lives for profit.
"My father built this company on a foundation of truth, Richard," Ethan said quietly. "And a weak foundation always collapses."
With a sudden, explosive movement, Ethan threw his weight backward, slamming his head into Richard's nose.
Richard screamed in pain, dropping the gun. Ethan spun, sweeping his legs out from under his uncle. Richard slipped on the icy concrete, sliding dangerously close to the sheer, unguarded edge of the tenth floor.
He screamed, dangling over the abyss, holding onto a single piece of rebar with one hand.
"Ethan! Help me!" Richard begged, his arrogant demeanor completely gone. "I'm your family! Your father would want you to save me!"
Ethan walked slowly to the edge, looking down at his uncle.
He reached out his hand.
But he didn't pull Richard up. Instead, Marcus and two SWAT officers stepped in, grabbing Richard's arms and hauling him onto the safe, solid concrete, slamming handcuffs onto his wrists.
"You don't deserve to die, Richard," Ethan said coldly, looking down at him. "You deserve to spend the rest of your life in a small, concrete cell, watching me build the world you tried to destroy."
As Richard was dragged away screaming, Ethan rushed down the stairs to the lobby.
There, wrapped in warm police blankets, were Lily and Leo. When they saw Ethan, they ran to him, throwing their arms around his waist.
"You're safe now," Ethan whispered, holding them tight, tears finally slipping down his face. "I promise you, you will never be cold or hungry again."
ONE YEAR LATERThe sun shone brightly over the grand opening of the Marcus & Arthur Vance Community Center.
The beautiful, sprawling building stood proud and structurally flawless, offering free housing, hot meals, and education to families in need.
Standing at the ribbon-cutting ceremony was Ethan Walker, dressed in a simple suit. Next to him stood Lily and Leo, healthy, smiling, and dressed in beautiful new clothes.
But they weren't alone.
Standing right behind them, leaning on a cane but smiling with tears in his eyes, was Arthur Vance.
He hadn't been killed. Richard had kept him locked away in a private, illegal medical facility under a false name to prevent him from speaking out. Ethan's investigators had found him just three weeks after Richard's arrest.
As the crowd cheered and the ribbon was cut, Lily reached up and took Ethan's hand.
"We did it, Ethan," she whispered.

Ethan looked down at her, then up at the beautiful, safe building his father and her father had dreamed of.
"No, Lily," Ethan smiled, his heart finally at peace. "We built it together."
