Journalists, high-ranking military personnel, and federal officials sat in solemn silence as the historic court-martial of former Major Ethan Vance (formerly Brooks), former General Raymond Vance, and Diane Brooks commenced.
Sitting in the front row, dressed in a sharp tailor-made dark blue suit, was Olivia Carter. Beside her stood Margaret, wearing her full Army Colonel dress uniform decorated with service ribbons and medals.
The prosecution presented mountain of irrefutable evidence:
Over 200 hours of continuous audio recordings captured by Olivia’s hidden burner phone.
Blockchain ledgers detailing $14 million in laundered defense funds.
Medical expert testimony establishing systematic poisoning and physical abuse meant to induce fatal pregnancy complications.
Ballistic evidence matching the weapons used in the hospital siege to Vanguard Tactical operatives.
When Ethan was called to the stand, he looked broken. His uniform stripped of rank, his hair shorn, his face gaunt.
The military prosecutor stood up. “Defendant Vance, do you deny that you deliberately inflicted physical injury upon your pregnant wife, forged life insurance policies, and attempted to facilitate her murder under orders from your biological father?”
Ethan looked across the courtroom at Olivia. For the first time, he saw no fear in her eyes. Only absolute, cold contempt.
“I... I was following orders,” Ethan stammered, his voice cracking. “I was told she was an enemy of the state... that her family was investigating us...”
“You lied to protect your dirty money, Major,” the Military Judge interjected sharply. “You violated your oath to the Constitution, your oath as an officer, and your sacred duty as a husband and father.”
After three days of grueling testimony, the panel of military officers returned with a unanimous verdict.
Former Major Ethan Vance: GUILTY on all counts. Sentenced to LIFE IMPRISONMENT WITHOUT PAROLE at the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth.
Former General Raymond Vance: GUILTY of high treason, conspiracy to commit murder, and racketeering. Sentenced to LIFE IMPRISONMENT.
Diane Brooks: GUILTY as an accessory to attempted murder and corporate fraud. Sentenced to 30 YEARS in federal prison.
As Ethan was led away in heavy chains, he paused near Olivia’s seat, whispering pathetically, “Olivia... please... let me see my daughter once... just once...”

“You don't have a daughter, Ethan,” she said clearly, her voice echoing off the courtroom marble. “Victoria has only a mother and a grandmother. You don't exist.”
