Chapter 9 - The Tokyo ArrivalThe sunrise over Tokyo Bay was a blinding masterpiece of gold and steel, reflecting off the glittering skyscrapers of Shinjuku and the endless sprawl of the port terminals below.

As the private jet touched down on the tarmac at Haneda Airport, a convoy of six black bulletproof Lexus sedans waited at the base of the private hangar. Sato stepped out of the lead vehicle, bowing deeply as Kenji and Evelyn descended the aircraft steps.
Word of the digital counter-strike had already traveled across the Pacific. Uncle Hiroshi’s attempted coup in Kobe had collapsed before it even began; his blockade was dismantled, his financial accounts frozen, and his lieutenants rounded up by loyal syndicate captains before breakfast.
Kenji walked down the steps with absolute authority, his dark suit catching the morning wind, with Evelyn walking stride-for-stride beside him. She no longer looked like an American waitress hiding in oversized clothes; she looked like the undisputed queen of an international empire.
As they reached the lead car, Sato held the door open, casting a look of profound, unwavering respect toward Evelyn.
"Kuroda-sama," Sato said in Japanese, bowing slightly to Evelyn as well. "The elders are waiting at the main estate in Roppongi. They wish to discuss the restructuring of the North American and Asian shipping routes."
Kenji paused, looking at Evelyn. A slow, knowing smile touched his lips.
"Let the elders wait," Kenji said smoothly, sliding into the back seat and pulling Evelyn in beside him. He closed the heavy bulletproof door, shutting out the noise of the airport and the weight of the sprawling city beyond.
He turned to her, his dark eyes warm and steady.
"First," Kenji said, taking her hand in his, "we have a dinner reservation at a small sushi counter in Ginza. The owner thinks he runs the best restaurant in Tokyo."
Evelyn laughed—a rich, genuine sound that echoed softly inside the leather cabin of the speeding car.

"Is that a challenge, Kuroda-san?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with defiance and joy.
"Only if you think you can handle it," Kenji replied, pulling her close against his side as the convoy sped into the heart of Tokyo.
