Chapter 8 - THE SURPRISE ENDING
Six months later.
The Vance Corporation had been completely restructured. The stolen assets were returned, the offshore accounts were liquidated for charitable foundations, and Eleanor was officially restored as co-CEO alongside Victoria.
Leo was healthy, happy, and enrolled in a prestigious private academy, finally living the life he deserved.
On a warm summer afternoon, Victoria and Eleanor stood in the attic of their childhood home, opening the old iron black box that Leo’s key had unlocked. Inside were family journals, old land deeds, and personal letters from their late father.
“I’m glad it’s all over,” Eleanor said softly, holding Leo’s hand as he played with a wooden toy on the floor. “We can finally live in peace.”
Victoria smiled, pulling out a sealed envelope from the bottom of the box labeled: “TO MY DAUGHTERS: THE TRUTH OF YOUR BIRTH.”
Curious, Victoria opened the envelope and scanned the official hospital birth records from thirty years ago.
As her eyes read the lines, her smile completely vanished. Her face drained of all color.
“Victoria? What is it?” Eleanor asked, stepping closer.
Victoria handed the paper to Eleanor with a shaking hand.
The document was an official adoption record and DNA ledger signed by their late father.
It stated clearly:
Baby A (Victoria Vance): Biological child of Edward Vance.
Baby B (Eleanor Vance): Adopted at birth from an unknown surrogate... who was later revealed to be the biological sister of Julian Sterling.
Victoria and Eleanor stared at each other in absolute horror as the realization hit them like a lightning strike.
Leo wasn't just Eleanor’s son.
Because Eleanor was Julian’s biological sister, Leo carried the exact bloodline that gave Julian legal claims to the Sterling-Vance secret trust—a trust that had not yet been dissolved.
Suddenly, Victoria’s phone buzzed on the table. It was a text message from an unknown, untraceable number.
Victoria unlocked her screen. The message contained a single live video stream link.
She tapped it.
The video showed the interior of a maximum-security prison transport van, flipped on its side on a deserted highway, engulfed in flames.
