Chapter 4 - The Country Club Meltdown — "She Tried to Launch Her High-Society Wedding, But I Crushed the Event with a Single Laptop!"

Despite being evicted from the mansion, Alyssa was determined to maintain the illusion of her perfect life. She had spent the last year planning the social event of the season: her engagement gala to Chad Harrison, the son of a wealthy state senator. The party was scheduled for Friday night at the exclusive Green Valley Country Club.

Vivian and Alyssa had checked into a luxury hotel downtown, using the last of their personal credit cards, hoping the gala would secure Alyssa’s marriage into the Harrison family fortune before the DNA scandal went public.

I decided it was time to pull back the curtain on their final act.

At 7:30 PM, the country club’s grand ballroom was packed with politicians, judges, and high-society families. Violins played softly, champagne towers glittered under the chandeliers, and Alyssa stood in the center of the room in a stunning white lace gown, flashing her massive engagement ring to a circle of admiring women.

I walked into the ballroom wearing a tailored black suit, carrying a sleek leather laptop bag. Rosa walked beside me, wearing her best Sunday dress.

The moment Alyssa saw me, her face hardened. She broke away from her guests and marched toward me, her heels digging into the plush carpet.

"What are you doing here, Candace?" she hissed, her voice vibrating with malice. "This is a private event. You don't belong here. Security!"

"Don't bother, Alyssa," I said, placing my laptop bag on a high-top table near the main projector screen, which was currently showing a slideshow of her and Chad's childhood photos. "I'm just here to deliver a wedding present."

Chad Harrison, a tall, arrogant young man in a tuxedo, stepped beside Alyssa. "Is there a problem here, sweetie? Who is this person?"

"This is my... my father's old mistake," Alyssa lied smoothly, trying to push me toward the exit. "She’s unstable, Chad. Have her removed."

"I wouldn't do that, Chad," I said, opening my laptop and connecting it directly to the ballroom's media system via the wireless presentation hub. "Unless you want your family's political campaign to be funded by stolen charity money."

Before Alyssa could grab the laptop, I hit Enter.

The slideshow of romantic photos instantly vanished from the giant ballroom screens. In its place appeared a massive, high-definition image of the official DNA test results showing Alyssa's zero percent relation to the Harper family. Right next to it was the federal warrant for Vivian’s arrest for the embezzlement of $1.2 million from the Harper Foundation.

The music stopped. The room went completely, devastatingly silent.

Dozens of high-society guests leaned forward, their eyes widening as they read the documents on the walls. Whispers broke out like a swarm of locusts.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Senator Harrison, Chad’s father, roared from the front row, his face turning a deep, angry red. "Chad, what is this garbage?!"

"Chad, it’s a lie! I swear it’s a lie!" Alyssa screamed, turning to her fiancé, her hands shaking uncontrollably.

But Chad was already backing away from her, looking at the DNA test and the criminal warrant with absolute horror. A political family could survive a lot of things, but a public association with charity theft and illegitimacy was a death sentence for his father’s campaign.

"We’re done, Alyssa," Chad said, slipping his engagement ring off her finger and tossing it onto the table. "Get out of here. Before I have my father's security team throw you out."

Alyssa dropped to her knees in the middle of the ballroom, her white lace dress spreading around her like a broken parachute, sobbing hysterically as the entire high-society crowd turned their backs on her.

I picked up my laptop, looked down at her one last time, and walked out into the cool night air. The outsider had finally cleared the room.
