Chapter 5 - The Hotel Room Raid — "The FBI Intercepted Her Designer Bags Packed with Uncut Diamonds!"

The fallout from the country club gala was instantaneous. By 11:00 PM that same Friday, the state authorities and the FBI financial crimes division had synchronized their efforts based on the evidence we found in the master bedroom safe.
Vivian was inside her luxury suite at the Ritz-Carlton, franticly throwing her remaining designer clothes into her suitcases. She had seen the news alerts online from the country club disaster and knew her time had officially run out.
She grabbed the velvet pouch of uncut diamonds from her purse, shoving them into the lining of her coat.
"Alyssa, hurry up!" Vivian shouted into the bathroom where her daughter was still crying, her makeup smeared across her face. "We need to leave for the airport now! I have the offshore accounts, we can still get to Switzerland—"
BOOM.
The heavy oak door of the hotel suite splintered inward as four armed federal agents stormed the room, their weapons raised, their flashlights blinding against the dim hotel lighting.
"FBI! Hands where I can see them! Step away from the luggage!" the lead agent shouted.
Vivian screamed, dropping her suitcase as she was slammed against the wall, her hands roughly pulled behind her back as the metal handcuffs clicked tightly around her wrists.
"I have rights! I am Vivian Harper!" she shrieked, her regal voice cracking into a desperate wail. "You can't do this to me!"
An agent reached into the lining of her trench coat and pulled out the velvet pouch, pouring the sparkling, uncut diamonds onto the desk.
"Vivian Harper, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, grand larceny, and corporate embezzlement from a non-profit foundation," the agent stated, reading from a laminated card. "You have the right to remain silent..."
Alyssa walked out of the bathroom, her eyes wide with terror as she watched her mother being dragged out of the suite in handcuffs. She looked at the agents, her voice trembling. "What about me? Where am I supposed to go?"
May you like
The agent looked at her with total indifference. "You aren't named in this specific warrant, ma'am. But the hotel management has already informed us that the credit card used to book this room has been flagged as stolen corporate property. You have thirty minutes to vacate the premises."
Alyssa stood alone in the center of the ruined hotel room, surrounded by half-packed bags and the shattered remnants of the life she thought she owned. The golden child was officially homeless.
