Chapter 6 - THE FALL OF THORNE GLOBAL LOGISTICSThe thirty-second floor of the Thorne Global Logistics tower in downtown Manhattan hummed with the electric tension of a multi-million-dollar acquisition.

Victor Thorne stood before the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, swirling a glass of expensive single-malt scotch, watching the busy traffic crawl across the streets below. His phone buzzed against the mahogany desk. It was a status update from his elite extraction team sent to Sterling Manor.
Target secured. Elimination complete.
Victor smiled, a cruel, triumphant smirk that reached his cold eyes. For years, Nathan Sterling had sat like an untouchable dragon on his cliffside estate, hoarding wealth and keeping a low profile. By eliminating the billionaire—and sweeping up any loose ends, including some stray orphan girl he had picked up—Victor was about to reclaim his crown and absorb the entirety of Sterling Industries.
The double doors to his executive office burst open.
His chief financial officer, Sarah, stumbled into the room, her face completely drained of color, an iPad clutched trembling in her hands.
"Sir! We have a catastrophic emergency!" Sarah gasped, her voice cracking.
Victor didn't even turn around, swirling his scotch leisurely. "Relax, Sarah. Acquisitions of this scale always rattle the nerves. Did the municipal contract hit?"
"No! It’s not the contract!" Sarah screamed, dropping the iPad onto his desk. "Our mainframe has been hit by an encrypted, hostile override! Every offshore account we hold in the Cayman Islands has just been drained down to zero! All our liquidity assets are vanishing into a blind trust!"
Victor whipped around, his scotch glass slipping from his fingers and shattering against the marble floor, amber liquid splashing across his Italian leather shoes. "What did you say?!"
He lunged for the terminal, his fingers flying across the keyboard. The screen was flashing a blinding, pulsing red warning code. Stamped right across the center of his corporate dashboard was a single, mocking digital watermark: a stylized wolf head—the corporate logo of Sterling Industries.
And underneath it, a text message window opened automatically, flashing a single sentence typed in cold, unyielding white font:
“You should have stayed out of my grocery store, Victor. This is just the down payment.”
Victor stared at the screen, his chest heaving as blind, blinding panic clawed at his throat. He grabbed his desk phone, dialing his private security team’s direct frequency.
"Get me tactical command! Status report on the Sterling Manor strike team! Now!"

Silence stretched across the line, broken only by a low, static hiss. Then, a calm, computerized voice answered: “The number you have dialed is out of service, or has been transferred to federal custody.”
Victor dropped the phone. The room seemed to spin around him. Nathan wasn't hiding. Nathan had drawn him out into the open, baited the trap, and now, in less than sixty seconds, had systematically dismantled a ten-year criminal enterprise.
