Chapter 10 - The Cayman Connection

I opened the folder with trembling fingers. Inside were bank statements, wire transfers, and corporate registration documents stamped with a familiar seal—the exact offshore tech startup in the Cayman Islands that Sienna had warned me about months before our Central Park confrontation.
Except now, the threat was no longer theoretical. It was active, coordinated, and targeting the core of Dominic’s corporate empire.
“Why are you telling me this, Eleanor?” I looked up, narrowing my eyes. “You helped the Kingsleys for a decade. Why turn on Grant now?”
Eleanor sank into the chair opposite my desk, her hands shaking as she clasped them together. “Because when Grant lost the company, he didn't just blame you and Moretti—he blamed the board. He threatened my family, Claire. He ruined my reputation behind the scenes, and when I tried to pull out, his lawyers reminded me of agreements I signed years ago. Grant isn't just trying to get revenge. He’s staging a hostile takeover of Moretti Tech while Dominic is out of the country.”
My mind raced. Dominic was flying back from Frankfurt tomorrow morning. If Grant managed to execute the corporate ambush before Dominic landed, Moretti Tech’s primary voting shares would fall into a hostile trust, freezing Dominic out of his own company and bankrupting his liquid assets overnight.
It was a trap designed to hit Dominic where it hurt most—his life’s work—while simultaneously cutting off the financial foundation that protected Chloe and me.
“He thinks he’s cornered me,” I murmured aloud, staring at the financial statements.
“He’s coming for the estate tonight, Claire,” Eleanor warned, leaning forward. “He thinks Dominic is trapped in Germany due to European airspace strikes. Grant is planning to serve you with fraudulent civil injunctions and asset freezes while you’re here alone, forcing you to sign away your rights to the foundation.”
I stood up slowly, the lingering trauma of my marriage evaporating into a cold, lethal fury. Grant Kingsley still thought I was the terrified, gaslit woman he could break with a single phone call. He didn't realize who I had become.
“Marcus!” I called out toward the hallway intercom.

The door opened instantly. “Yes, Mrs. Moretti?”
“Call Dominic’s private legal counsel in Manhattan. Tell them to initiate Emergency Protocol Alpha immediately. And prep the helicopter pad—we’re going to New York.”
