Chapter 4 - THE PROSECUTOR'S NIGHTMAREMy court-appointed defense attorney—who I had briefed thoroughly the night before—stepped forward and handed a single encrypted flash drive to the bailiff, who plugged it into the courtroom's main media display.

The large projection screen above the judge's bench flickered to life.

Instead of my edited video, the unedited, full-length security footage from Mother’s bedroom began playing in crystal-clear high definition.

“Daniel is giving me these pills! Make him stop, Claire!” Mother’s exhausted, terrified voice echoed off the courtroom walls, followed by clear footage of Daniel slipping unmarked bottles into her bedside drawer.

Daniel’s face instantly drained of all color. He bolted upright in his seat, his hands gripping the wooden pew so hard his knuckles turned white.

"That... that's a fake!" Daniel shrieked, breaking courtroom protocol as he pointed a trembling finger at me. "She hacked the system! She's lying!"

"Silence in my courtroom!" Judge Sterling slammed his gavel down with a thunderous crack.

The screen shifted again, displaying the metadata analysis of the forged will, complete with Daniel's personal laptop user ID, GPS coordinates at the time of creation, and side-by-side comparisons of the spliced signature layers.
