Chapter 6 - THE ARREST OF A FRAUD"Bail for Ms. Claire Mercer is immediately revoked—because the charges against her are dismissed with prejudice," Judge Sterling declared, banging his gavel once more. "Furthermore, bail for Mr. Daniel Mercer is denied. Take him into custody immediately."
Before Daniel could even turn toward the side exit, two courthouse bailiffs lunged forward, grabbing his arms and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
"No! No, you can't do this! This is my money! Claire, you bitch, you planned this!" Daniel shrieked, kicking wildly as they dragged him down the center aisle, past the rows of flashing cameras and stunned reporters.

My attorney handed me my jacket and my property bag. I slipped my coat on, smoothed down my sleeves, and walked out of the courtroom a completely free woman.
