The contractions began precisely at 11:45 PM, rolling through my abdomen with a fierce, rhythmic intensity that left no doubt. I didn't panic. I didn't call anyone who didn't deserve to be there.

By 3:15 AM, the sterile delivery room echoed with the loudest, most defiant cry I had ever heard in my life.

Dr. Vance—a brilliant, compassionate obstetrician who had monitored my high-stress pregnancy from day one—smiled broadly as she wrapped my newborn daughter in a warm, pristine white blanket and placed her directly onto my chest.

“She’s perfect, Claire,” Dr. Vance whispered, brushing a damp lock of hair from my forehead. “Ten fingers, ten toes, and a set of lungs that could wake up the whole state of Colorado.”

I looked down at the tiny, perfect face resting against my heart. She had my eyes—bright, observant, and completely unafraid of the dark.

No one would ever hurt her. No one would ever try to trap her, control her, or make her feel small. She was born into a world of absolute sovereignty, built by a mother who had walked through fire and emerged forged in titanium.
