Chapter 20 - The Ultimate Revelation

Lorenzo stepped out of the sunroom instantly, his hand dropping to the holster at his waist, his eyes blazing with cold fury. Marco drew his weapon, positioning himself in front of Sophia.
Standing in the grand foyer, surrounded by six armed enforcers, was Victor Vance. He wore an expensive tailored suit, a smug, arrogant smile plastered across his face as he looked around the magnificent marble hall.
"Good afternoon, Don Moretti," Victor called out, spreading his arms wide. "I apologize for the lack of an invitation, but I figured it was time we had a little family discussion."
"You have ten seconds to walk out those doors before I feed you to the lake," Lorenzo said, his voice dropping into a deadly, ice-cold register that shook the glass in the chandeliers.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you, Lorenzo," Victor laughed, casually pulling a thick Manila folder from his jacket pocket. "Not unless you want the whole city to know the truth about your precious new housekeeper."
Sophia stepped out from behind Marco, her hands trembling violently, her face completely pale. "Don't listen to him, Mr. Moretti—"
"Shut up, sweet-talker," Victor sneered, locking his eyes onto Lorenzo. "You think she’s an innocent stray you rescued from the streets? Ask her why she really ran away from New York three years ago. Ask her whose money she stole, and whose husband she put in a grave before she changed her name and hid behind your walls!"
Lorenzo slowly turned his head, looking back at Sophia. The entire room went dead silent. The heavy tension hung so thick that a pin drop would have sounded like thunder.
Sophia looked up at Lorenzo, tears welling in her eyes, her voice breaking as she whispered the words she had prayed would never escape her lips:
"It's true... I'm not who you think I am."

Lorenzo didn't flinch. He didn't draw his weapon. He took one slow, deliberate step toward Sophia, looked past Victor and his armed men as if they didn't even exist, and said with a quiet, unshakeable certainty that left everyone in the room utterly speechless:
"I don't care who you were before today, Sophia. The only thing that matters is who is standing in my house right now."
