They didn't look down at their portfolios anymore. They looked at me with a mixture of reverence, awe, and cautious respect.
I took my seat at the head of the table.
Before opening the folder, I placed a small, sleek black remote right beside my notepad. No logo. No screen. Just a single button.
The room grew instantly quiet. Everyone’s eyes flicked instinctively toward the black device, remembering the legend of how a dying hedge fund empire had been erased in thirty seconds with a single click.
I caught the eye of a nervous new VP sitting near the back, watching the remote with beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
I smiled gently, leaning back in my chair.
"Relax everyone," I said, my voice carrying effortlessly across the silent room. "That remote doesn't destroy empires anymore."
