Chapter 6 - The Siege of the Alpine Ridge"We can't stay here," Marcus said, checking the magazine of his sidearm. "My satellite beacon is destroyed, but my tactical radio has a short-range frequency. If we can make it up the cliff trail to the old smuggler's outpost, we can access an emergency satellite dish."

"There's no time," Julian said, walking over to a hidden rock wall at the back of the cave and pressing a biometric panel. A heavy stone slab slid open with a deep mechanical groan, revealing a subterranean elevator shaft. "Victor's tactical chopper is already thermal-scanning the coastline. They saw the plane crash. They're landing on the beach above us right now."
A low, thrumming roar vibrated through the rock walls. The unmistakable sound of heavy military helicopter rotor blades beating against the gale-force winds outside.
"Move, move, move!" I shouted, scooping up Eli while Julian grabbed Noah, and we all piled into the cramped elevator car.
Julian slammed the control button, and the heavy stone door sealed shut just as the first burst of automatic gunfire echoed into the cave entrance, chewing up the rock face where we had been standing seconds before.
The elevator plunged deep into the earth, descending thousands of feet below sea level through the heart of the Swiss Alps.
When the car finally stopped, the doors slid open to reveal a high-tech subterranean bunker that made my own corporate facilities look like a child's playroom. Rows of glowing mainframe servers hummed with green light, holographic schematics projected from central consoles, and weapons lockers lined the reinforced titanium walls.
"Welcome to my retirement home," Julian muttered grimly, walking over to a central console and typing furiously. "While Victor thought I was hiding in fear, I was reverse-engineering his entire global network. Every dollar he laundered, every political bribe he paid, every offshore account he holds—it's all routed through a single master server in Zurich."
"Can we shut him down?" I asked, setting Eli down on a cot and handing him a blanket.
"We can do better than that," Julian said, a cold, dangerous smile touching his lips—a smile I hadn't seen since we were boys. "We can take his entire empire, liquidate his assets, and broadcast his crimes to every news outlet on the planet simultaneously. But to do that, I need root administrative access."
"And where is root access?" Marcus asked, scanning the perimeter monitors.
Julian stopped typing. He looked back at Noah, who was standing quietly beside his father, watching the holographic displays with intense curiosity.
"It's not a password, Marcus. It's biological," Julian said softly. "Victor locked the master mainframe behind a generational DNA encryption key. Only a direct bloodline descendant of the Sterling family—with a verified genetic signature matching the original founders—can execute the override command."
Marcus cursed under his breath. "Which means Victor didn't just want the boys dead because they were witnesses... he wanted them dead because they are the only living keys capable of unlocking his stolen billions."
Suddenly, the red warning klaxons blared across the bunker. The main holographic screen flickered, displaying an external security camera feed from the surface entrance we had just used.

Men in black tactical gear, wearing helmets bearing the silver-ring insignia, were blowing the outer blast doors with shaped charges.
"They found the shaft," Julian whispered. "They're coming down."
