CHAPTER 3: THE TWIN PARADOX (THE ULTIMATE TWIST)

The warehouse was dark, smelling of rust and sea salt.

As the brothers burst through the doors, the lights slammed on. There stood Emily, soaking wet, holding a flare gun. Next to her was the local SWAT team, guns drawn.

"It's over," Emily said, her voice ice-cold.

Michael, realizing they were trapped, lunged at his brother. "This was your idea! You killed her!" he screamed, tackling Daniel to the ground. A brutal, chaotic fistfight broke out between the identical twins. They punched, kicked, and rolled into the shadows, a blur of identical faces, identical suits, and identical blood.

A gunshot echoed. One brother fell, clutching his bleeding shoulder. The other scrambled up, covered in dirt, looking terrified.

The police rushed in, pinning the standing brother down.

"Wait!" the man screamed. "I'm Daniel! Michael shot me and tried to frame me! Emily, honey, please tell them! I love you, I was forced to do it!"

Emily walked over slowly, looking down at the desperate man. She smiled a cruel, satisfied smile. She knew exactly which twin he was. She knew Daniel had a tiny mole behind his left ear. She looked behind his ear. It was blank. This was Michael.

Michael was trying to pass himself off as Daniel to escape the murder charge, while the real Daniel lay unconscious and bleeding on the floor.

Emily looked the police officer dead in the eye.

"Officer," Emily said flawlessly, "The man standing up is my husband, Daniel. He's the one who tried to save me. The man on the floor is Michael—he is the monster who pushed me off the boat. Arrest Michael for attempted murder, and let 'Daniel' go."

Michael’s eyes widened in sheer horror. If he claimed he was Michael, he would go to jail for smuggling and attempted murder. If he accepted Emily's "identification" and pretended to be Daniel, he would be legally married to the woman who now owned 100% of the family fortune—and who hated his guts.

As they dragged Michael away (as "Daniel"), Emily leaned in and whispered in his ear: "Welcome to your new life, 'hubby'. I bought a brand new yacht. And tomorrow... we are going for a swim."
