Chapter 5 - THE SHADOW MASTERMIND

“Emily Wasn’t the Victim!” — The Quiet Girl’s Dangerous Game!Victoria scrambled for the folder, her long manicured nails tearing through the pages. The official legal documents bore the red seal of the International Heritage Court. Emily owned 51% of Vance Global’s parent entity.

“No... no! This is a forgery!” Sophia screamed, backing away in terror.

“Five minutes ago,” Emily continued, her voice crisp and devoid of warmth, “I authorized a short-squeeze on the exact stocks you dumped tonight. Your short positions have been liquidated, Victoria. Every cent of your personal fortune, your estates, your jewelry—it’s all gone. You are officially bankrupt.”

Lady Beatrice gasped, shrinking into the booth, while Victoria slumped to her knees, staring up at the woman she had forced to scrub floors just twenty-four hours earlier.

“Why?” Victoria wept, her pride entirely crushed. “If you had all this power... why did you let us push you around? Why did you clean my shoes? Why did you scrub that sink?!”

Emily leaned down, her face inches from Victoria’s pale ear.

“Because,” Emily whispered, “a trap is only effective when the prey believes it holds the hunter in its mouth. I needed you to feel so powerful that you would commit ultimate fraud in front of witnesses. You thought you were playing with a helpless girl... but you were setting fire to your own funeral.”

“It’s time to go home, my Queen,” Ethan said softly.
