Chapter 18 - The Genetic Key

Alexander walked out of the federal holding facility into the cool Chicago rain, his mind spinning with Viktor’s parting words.
“She carried the master code in her blood.”
It wasn’t just a digital drive. It wasn’t just a paper trust. The reason the Syndicate had hunted Clare for a decade, the reason they had tracked Aura across the country, was because Aura’s very DNA contained the biometric cryptographic signature required to unlock Arthur Halcyon’s original, unhackable quantum mainframe.
He climbed into the black town car where Julian and Sarah were waiting with the children.
“Everything alright, Alex?” Julian asked, noticing the pale, haunted look on Alexander’s face as he closed the door.
“We need to get back to Bainbridge Island immediately,” Alexander said, his voice tight. “Viktor didn't tell us everything. The ledger is just a map. The real vault... it’s tied to Aura’s biometric profile.”
Sarah gasped softly, pulling Lily and a sleeping Leo a little closer to her.

Julian’s eyes narrowed instantly, the old Capo waking up with lethal clarity. “If they know her DNA is the key, they won’t stop with legal threats or corporate takeovers. They’ll send a black-ops extraction team straight to your island.”
“Then we beat them there,” Alexander declared, slamming his hand against the leather armrest. “Parker, pilot us straight to the private airstrip. No layovers.”
