Chapter 10 - Resurrection and RevengeDawn broke over the Boston harbor, painting the sky in violent shades of amber and blood-red.

Inside the private ICU ward of Massachusetts General Hospital—secured by twenty of Dante’s most trusted armed guards—the rhythmic beep-beep-beep of a stabilized heart monitor echoed softly through the sterile room.

Elena breathed slowly, evenly, aided by an advanced oxygen ventilator. The color was slowly returning to her cheeks. In the adjoining family lounge, the three little girls were fast asleep on a large sofa, wrapped in matching wool blankets, clutching the small canvas painting between them like a sacred talisman.

Dante stood by the window, looking out over the city he now ruled with absolute, unchallenged authority.

Marcus Vance was gone—permanently erased from the ledger of the living and dropped into the deep trenches of the Atlantic Ocean. Salvatore was rotting in a black-site basement, stripped of every cent, waiting for the day Dante would finally decide his fate.

The door clicked open softly.

Elena opened her eyes, turning her head weakly toward him. A small, familiar smile touched her lips—the exact same smile from the painting on Newbury Street.

"You really brought down the whole city just for us, didn't you?" she whispered.

Dante walked over to the bed, sat down, and took her fragile hand, pressing his warm palm against hers.

"I told you," Dante Russo said, his eyes burning with a fierce, eternal devotion. "I already buried you once. I’m never letting you go again."
