CHAPTER 6 – Ethan's Final Victory
Victor Hale never reached international waters.
The plane had barely begun taxiing when armed federal agents surrounded it.
Within minutes...
The man who had stolen millions from fallen military families was in handcuffs.
News channels interrupted their programming.
"Breaking News..."
"Charity Executive Arrested After Massive Fraud Investigation."
Investigators recovered nearly every dollar.
Richard insisted on returning every cent to the families who deserved it.
Then he made one final announcement.
Standing before dozens of reporters, he looked directly into the cameras.
"My son died believing I loved money more than family."
"He was wrong about only one thing."
"I realized it too late."
He turned toward Claire and Emma.
"So from this day forward..."
"The Sullivan Foundation will belong to the children of fallen heroes."
"And the very first scholarship..."
He smiled through tears.
"...will bear Ethan Dawson's name."
Months later...
The school gym looked completely different.
A bronze plaque had been installed near the entrance.
It read:
"One promise kept can change thousands of lives."
Emma visited it every year.
Not because she was still waiting.
But because she no longer had to.
She had learned something that night.
