CHAPTER 4 — "The Bloodline Betrayal"

A tall young man in an expensive suit stood near the stage.

His name was Nathan Brooks.

Eleanor's only grandson.

The boy she had raised after his parents died.

The boy she had trusted with everything.

Nathan's face turned pale as every camera swung toward him.

Eleanor slowly looked at him.

"Nathan..."

Veronica smiled through tears.

"Tell them, Nathan. Tell your grandmother who gave me the access codes."

The room froze.

Nathan lowered his eyes.

That silence was worse than any confession.

Eleanor's hands trembled for the first time.

"You?"

Nathan swallowed hard.

"I was tired of living under your shadow."

The words cut deeper than betrayal.

"You gave strangers everything," he said bitterly. "Millions to children you didn't even know. But your own family had to beg for approval."

Eleanor whispered,

"I gave you love."

Nathan laughed coldly.

"Love doesn't buy power."

Judge Coleman stepped forward.

"Nathan Brooks, did you authorize the stolen transfers?"

Nathan looked at Veronica.

Then back at his grandmother.

And suddenly...

He smiled.

"Yes."

The audience gasped.

"But you still don't understand the best part."

Eleanor's eyes narrowed.

Nathan reached into his jacket and pulled out a legal document.

"Two weeks ago, Grandma signed over full control of the foundation to me."

Veronica smiled wider.

"And once she's declared mentally unfit after tonight's public breakdown..."

Nathan looked directly into the cameras.

"...everything she built becomes mine."

Eleanor stood motionless.

For one terrifying second, it looked like she had lost.

Then she wiped one tear from her cheek and whispered,

May you like

"That would be true..."

"...if I had signed my real name."
