For weeks, every television station covered the shocking story.
Jurors watched surveillance footage showing the wheelchair being pushed.
Experts confirmed the brakes had been deliberately unlocked.
Phone records revealed months of conversations about insurance money.
Financial records exposed crushing debts.
The evidence was overwhelming.
Michael tried blaming Elena.
Elena blamed Michael.
Neither accepted responsibility.
When Viktor entered the courtroom walking slowly with a cane, every person stood in silence.
Even the judge appeared emotional.
During sentencing, Viktor requested permission to speak.
He looked at his children for a long moment.
Not with hatred.
Not with anger.

"I gave you everything money could buy."
"I forgot to teach you the one thing money never can."

Many people expected him to demand the harshest punishment.

Viktor smiled quietly.
