Chapter 5 - The Public ExecutionThe arrest was poetry in motion.

Special Agent Vance didn't even blink as he stepped past me into the foyer, his eyes immediately locking onto Elena, who was now clutching the back of the living room sofa for support.
"Elena Vance?" the agent asked, his voice crisp and official.
"There's been a mistake! My husband was a magistrate, my family—" she started to screech, her voice climbing into panic mode, but the steel cuffs clicked around her wrists before she could finish her sentence.
"You have the right to remain silent," Agent Vance recited smoothly as he guided her toward the door. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
As they escorted a howling, disgraced Elena out past the elevator banks, Tomás stood frozen by the sofa like a mannequin stripped of its strings. He looked at me with hollow, sunken eyes, realizing the terrifying depth of the trap he and his mother had walked right into.
"And you, Mr. Tomás Vance," another agent said, stepping up to him with a second pair of cuffs. "You're being detained for questioning regarding corporate conspiracy, extortion, and complicity in domestic coercion."
"Wait!" Tomás cried, looking at me with a desperate, pathetic plea. "Please! We were married three days ago! Don't do this! I'll give you a divorce, I'll give you the apartment, I'll give you everything!"
"Keep the apartment, Tomás," I said, walking over to the dining table and picking up my wedding veil, tossing it carelessly into the trash can. "You're going to need a lot less space where you're going."
Within twenty minutes, the apartment was empty again. The flashing red and blue lights of federal cruisers painted the living room walls in rhythmic pulses.
By noon, the real storm hit—not in the courtroom, but across the internet.
Because I hadn't just sent the evidence to the authorities. I had scheduled an automated public release across every major social media platform, news aggregator, and corporate whistleblower portal, timed precisely for 12:00 PM.
The title of the viral post was simple, devastating, and impossible to ignore:
"How a Mother-in-Law Tried to Teach Me Domestic Abuse on Day 3 of Marriage—And How the Feds Brought Down Her Empire by Lunchtime."
Attached to the post was the full audio recording of Elena's voice note, Tomás's pathetic confession on the living room floor, and a complete summary of their family's offshore tax fraud.
By 1:00 PM, the post had crossed one million views. By 3:00 PM, it was trending at number one nationwide.
My phone buzzed continuously with notifications, news outlets requesting interviews, and viral comments flooding in by the tens of thousands. Tomás’s company issued an emergency public statement announcing his immediate termination and dissociation from the family name. The corporate shares associated with Elena’s legacy plummeted by forty percent before the stock market even closed.
I poured myself a fresh cup of coffee, walked out onto the balcony, and watched the news vans swarm the street below like vultures circling a carcass.
It was a masterpiece of total, absolute destruction.
And yet, as I looked out over the city skyline, I knew one thing for certain:

This wasn't the end of the story. It was only chapter one of what the media was already calling The Black Widow's Revenge.
And the person who had orchestrated the entire financial empire behind Elena—the shadowy patriarch everyone thought was dead—was about to find out that his family had poked the wrong dragon.
